Stud Partition Walls
What is A Partition Wall
A stud Partition Wall is a wall usually made out of wood and covered in Plasterboard on either side. Inside of the wall between the timbers can also have insulation installed to keep heat in and out. Stud wall and now also made out of Steel Tin on large building sites as it is said that because steel is machined it stays straight during being exposed to the elements. Tin Steel is also lighter than wood which makes it easier to install.
Stud Partition Walls are made out normally 4x2 or 3x2 timber dependent on the need for the wall. A length of timber is placed on the floor and another is placed and fixed to the ceiling. The timber on the floor is called the soleplate and the one on the ceiling is called the Head plate. After both these timbers are fixed into there places the studs are cut to fit in between the 2 and fixed directly into the head and soleplate. Studs are placed either 600mm or 400mm away from each other dependent on the requirements of the wall.
After the Wall is formed out of timber one side is plasterboarded then services are run into there locations if the wall is to take any services. Later if needed all unallocated place is then filled with insulation giving the wall a UV value for heat loss and soundproofing. Later then the opposing side of the wall is plasterboarded. Some specified walls need to be double plasterboard on either side to meet correct requirements and even specific plasterboard must be used. After this, the process then includes:-
